Default wisco tapping

Well time for a new thread. We got about 575 of our 700 taps in this week so far. They have been running great the last two days for this time of year. Got 300 gallons of 3.1% from mostly softs. Starting the boil in the morning.

Will be packing up all the homemade equipment 4 wheeler and all new supplies and heading out of Colorado for Wisconsin on Tuesday. Sounds like the weather will be just right to get tapping at the end of the week. Plan on filling the tanks and getting the RO plugged in and with a little help from my friends we will make some syrup. Will be keeping in touch by parking outside the Motel in town to use their WiFi

Hey jmayerl, and the rest of us Wisconies,

We are headed out to get the rest of our taps in this morning too.

I'm as excited as a bird with a french fry

Still alot to get ready, but "should " be boiling soon.

Enjoy this, BEST time of the year, Be Well, BobU

Default TWO taps..

Had the little granddaughters each tap a tree yesterday. The first taps of this year. Trees felt frozen inside and taps were dry. Just a start though. Let the tapping begin. I plan to hopefully get my taps in on Sunday. Might have to do it on snowshoes.:choke:

I am in a "Pickle" so to speak….18" of new snow, ATV gets stuck at every attempt, no chains, and weather, OMG. looks perfect for sap to run, not sure how the 18" snow cover plays into that……What to do? I work days from 6:30 til 2:00, not much energy left after the day of work…Thinking to tap after some snow melts, late in the week.

I was hoping to NOT tap with "headlamps and snowshoes" LOL. I am holding out for more of a "Grandma friendly" tapping path!
