I tapped a couple trees last week. Not much sap flow to report since then. 1/4-1/2 full 2 gal. buckets. Lots of snow though to slow a person down.

Default Tapping 2018

I plan to start hanging bags today, lots of snow, it won't be a walk in the park.

Default Hayward

Have had taps in (99) for two weeks. Collected 70 gals and boiled it down to near. Collected yesterday and got 28 gallons. Not much sap yet but the trees are thawing.
Hoping for a little more today. Yesterday the temps got to 50 degrees. Last night it was 25 degrees. Warmer than it has been at night lately. Maybe today it will let loose.

Default Sap

Got 50 gallons of sap yesterday. Didn't think the trees were going to do much. Enough to light a fire.

We got about 3" of heavy wet snow last night, trees are dripping, we should get enough sap between today and tomorrow to run the evaporator for the first time.

Default Slow start

I put 165 gallons into the evaporator yesterday for the first boil, our 10-day forecast doesn't look very promising. On the bright side, we're already ahead of our worst year.

Default More snow

Last night we received about 14" of heavy snow, we should have a sap run towards mid-week but it's going to be tough collecting.

Default All done

We ended up with 24 Gallons bottled, from 225 bags. It was a long disappointing season. We had 3 frosty days last week but I had already pulled the taps. Everything is cleaned up and put away.
