Looks like we're finishing up down here. Hasn't frozen at night in quite some time, the ants are out in force, sap is looking milky... It has been an incredible season for us here though. I'm at 100%+ more syrup this year than any other year I've ever had. The taps just ran and ran and ran once they got started. It's a small number to the large producers out there, but I managed to make 20 gallons on my 2X4 flat pan and considering the evaporation rate that means I spent the equivalent of 2 full work weeks boiling (which explains why I'm so tired). Now I get to assess where I can make equipment changes/upgrades that will increase production next year! Hope all the rest of the folks down here had a good season and that it lasts a good long time yet for everybody up north.
Been mixing box elder and maple sap for the past 6 years and haven't killed anyone yet.
