Default Sap run coming?

Are any Vermonters thinking they'll be boiling in the next few days? Any bucket/gravity guys ready to roll? The weather forecast has me scratching my head.

We're not in Vermont but it looks like your extended forecast mimics ours (southcentral PA) - warm up this weekend through the first part of next week then cold again, likely freezing up.

We're on all gravity and aren't tapping just yet. I'm sure it'll be running but not for an extended period of time worth getting taps in. That said, the following weekend we'll likely get to tapping. We're plenty early in the game so I'm not too concerned. I believe it's going to be a great year for sap runs...

Curious to know others thoughts?

If it was just a day or two I wouldn't even second guess, but this looks like it could be five or six days of classic sap flow weather. I'll be running around cleaning and prepping anyway.

RHale thats the same thought I've been having. This week for western mass. looks pretty great, but then there is a week and a half or two of pretty thorough freeze. What is keeping me out of this first mini run is that our taps historically dry up a little faster than others (no doubt due to the same taps being used for a few years at a time) and also that our sugar % early on is normally VERY low, down around 1%. I'd rather wait and have the taps running a little longer, than collecting a lot of early season water. Who knows

Here is southern Vermont, although at 2000', I had been debating and waiting, and the decision is a no brainer now. I spent the last two days getting ready, and set up my mainlines to the vacuum system today and tested it. Tapping tomorrow all day, Bellows Falls VMSMA conf Saturday, and tap what is left on Sunday for what looks like four good days. Than I get to put my home built RO to the real test!
