I dont have my sugar bush sap yield figured to the nickle but i have an area on the river flats that I collected on buckets in previous years. In 2017 I installed 3/16 on flat and in some cases uphill terrain on high vacuum. My experience as a small operation is chasing buckets in swampland was less productive than 3/16 under vacuum with less than optimal slope.
I'm done tearing through the woods on a UTV (or on foot). mechanical vacuum is cheaper than physical labor.

I run a few hundred on 3/16 with 0-18 feet of drop. I would say the average drop is 8-10 feet. I have 24-28" vac at each end depending on the amount of taps per lateral. Run a shurflo pump on the set up and have gotten 32-38 gallons of sap per tap the last few years.

How many taps per lateral and how many ft long are they.

Low 20's to high20's on each line, I think one has 32 on it. Length doesn't matter but I would say 200-500' each

Default Drop or no drop, that is the questions

As others have said, if you have some drop 6-10 feet than gains can be made. I myself have tried it and on the lines that had 6-8 feet of drop there was a noticeable difference. I will not run other 3/16 lines unless I have drop. Lines with a couple feet I found did not work so well, however better than carrying buckets through knee deep snow
I would go with 5/16 when little drop is available. Just my 2 cents, or nickel
And I have been using a shurflo 2088 with the same system.

Default Shurflo 12v 3/16ths # of taps?

I will be at adding a shurflo 4008 to 200 taps on 3/16, highest taps have 30 foot elevation drop and lowest are at 15-20 feet all on a 2% grade. If the research holds true for me I am relying on the shurflo to add vacuum of some sort. If the 3/16 on natural vacuum gives me 10 inches of mercury, and the shurflo with can throw in another 10, that should give me a total of 20 inches of mercury.... And I will take that any day over no vacuum.
