Your going to need something bigger than a shurflo or similar pump. I am making a double diaphragm pump and using the Mountain Maple controller on about 400 taps. It seems to work very well. This is a test woods for the pump as I am also using a shurflo to pump up a hill to the tank. I will attach some pics as soon as possible.

We need more info to answer that. What is the slope of the orchard, how far do you need to pull and push the sap? One of the bigger Sureflo pumps can move a lot of sap, but a bigger Guzzler can do more. Consider a true vacuum pump, which will tollerate a few leaks a little better, but of course you need to keep leaks in check.

From the top of the hill to the bottom there is a 25' elevation drop with roughly an 800' length. I would probably run the mainline along the bottom and tie the laterals into it?

I guess that depends on which Shurflo pump you use. I just did a search, and found a Shurflo, mfg model 4558-153-E75 that at least one vendor sells for $636 US, it is a dual diaphragm pump and is rated to move 10 GPM, or one for maybe $100 or less. The answer is, yes a Shurflo will do it, but you must use the right one. Just using any Shurflo will not get the results you want.

Ok thanks. Do you have 850 taps this year and what are you using for a vac pump?
