Default Xle-4040

Looking for any comments on the above membrane. Lapierre 250 turbo, generally concentrate to around 14% maybe a little higher in high flow days. Never more than 300psi. Ran NF-270 for last few years but they need replacement. Any other comments or recommendations?

thanks
Mike

I am making my own RO unit using an XLE-4040 membrane. From info have gotten they are a higher flow membrane and can operate good at lower pressure with less fouling.
Have read of people getting sap to 6-8% in one pass. My sap usually runs around 2% so if it will get the sap to 4-5% in one pass will be a real help to me.

Mel,
Just wondering what you used for the High Pressure pump? I'm planning to build my own with a pair of xle-4040's and am struggling to find a pump. I've heard good things about pressure washer pumps, but I don't know if there is an issue with potability (the manufacturers all say not for potable water, but they also don't want to go out on a limb for liability reasons)

I want to preface this answer by saying I know nothing about RO and have never run one But from what I have read I believe the pump you are looking for is this. Series 6 Pump - Procon Products | Positive Displacement Rotary Vane Pumps. If I am wrong on this please set me straight. Hope that helps.

The xle will not flow quite as fast as the nf... but you have less chance of passing sugar.

As for pressure washer style piston pumps.... the pulse wave created is not best thing out there for a membrane. Will it work? Sure. There is a reason you no longer find commercial units with this pump style.
