Default Plumbing XLE-4040 membrane

I think I've confused myself enough looking at pictures and literature so I'm just going to ask my question. I've also attached the information sheet from Dow regarding the membrane.

So my question - how should this thing be plumbed up? It looks like the feed comes in the center hole on the post but after that I'm not confident I understand how the thing works. Please end my stumbling on this and tell me how it should be plumbed up!

feed is on the outside port and on the opposite permeate is the center port and ouside port is concentrate. you have to remember that we are saving what they call the brine

on mine, one end cap has the raw sap going into the off center port with the center port plugged.
The other end cap has the concentrate coming out the off center port with the permeate coming out the center port.

My understanding is that the permeate can come out either end cap center port, but the concentrate must come out the opposite end from where the raw sap is entering.

Are you asking where to feed the membrane or the housing? Which housing are you using?

The feed end of the membrane will have a plug/cap on the middle tube. Sap will feed into membrane end outside of cap. Permeate will come out tube on other end and concentrate will come out the end outside of the tube.

Hope I did not make it less clear for you.

Here is a picture of what I described before.

One Pic is of the bottom end of my membranes and the other pic is the top end of the membrane.

The bottom one I have the center port of the end cap plug and the raw sap being pumped in under high pressure into the off-center port.

The top end cap I have the permeate coming out of the center port and the concentrated sap coming out the off-centered port.

Thanks guys...that explains it all. I think what I was seeing at times was the feed being plumbed in either port so that's where my confusion was coming from.

Thanks again!
