Default RO Help

I found a used RO and have no clue what make it is or if it is worth trying to make it work? Any one know who makes it or have one like it? Will try and put pic. on here. It has 5x 4 inch filters but one has a broken tube. I know very little on RO'S. Any help will be welcome. Thanks Vernon

If you get if for nothing it would be nice. As long as the hp pump works. Replumb it and put in some new membranes

600 taps and still growing I suspect. I see that unit as a poor attempt to try and make a filter system BUT maple sap concentrating I wonder. I like the pump but that's about all.

It should have a prefilter and I would run the membranes in parallel.

That pump will run one 4x40 @ 200psi...if you have a supply pump pushing pressure to it. It is a half horse 10gal min. Check goulds site for performance curve... I would guess it will max out about 200 psi with 1.5GPM.

Default RO Help

Thanks for replies .it has 4 new TW30-4040 membranes with it and the motor and pump is fairly new also. It was used to run a water distribution operation. Was told everything worked well 8 months ago until the operation had financial problems. Could it be modified to work for 1200 taps on high vac? Thanks maplecove.

It is all in how much water you need to get rid of and the time you have to do it.
I used a single 4x40 on 1100 taps this year. It ran a lot though.... a lot..

Thanks, Are you saying I only need to run 1 filter? Most of my sap is below 2% and it makes a lot of boiling time. I would think 4 should do better but more is not always better. Thanks Vernon

Thanks for the reply.. I went to look at the motor again and it is a 1hp, if that will make any difference. I was told it makes 250 psi and not sure of GPM ? It is not a lot of money and do not won't it spend a lot to make it not work. I know very little on RO'S but have been reading the past posts and am learning a little more all the time.... Thanks again Vernon

My 2 cents Maplecove. You have some nice parts to get started on a homebuild ro. Your gonna need some valves , wash tank with a way to heat the water , feed pump , flow meters to name a few things. However, your already good with the vessels , membranes and HP pump which all are expensive items.

Keep reading some of the past homebuild ro threads and ask away at any questions you have may have. Don't feel like its an impossible task as the end result is truley amazing. You'll be wanting more taps with all your free time during sugaring season. :)
