Default Ray's RO setup

I need help from the guy's using Ray's ro. I understand most of the tank and piping setup. Whats confusing is, how does the permeate get to that tank? I understand that the concentrate is under pressure and I can direct that anywhere I want but, what about permeate? Does it gravity feed into storage tanks? I would think you would want it higher then the RO so when you do the wash cycle's it gravity feeds to the RO. Maybe post a drawing of the proper setup if you can. Their are several of us that are going to be using these for the first time and I know I'm not the only one scratching my head.

If I'm not mistaken the permeate is also under pressure so it can be pumped to your tank. I'm using rays ro for the first time this season too. He put a garden hose fitting on mine but i changed it to mpt threads and installed braided hose going to the permeate tank.

Permeate is under some PSI and the hose off the back of the flow meter outlet should be headed to the permeate tank. If you Block the permeate hose then something will eventually go BOOMSKI=Don't let it sag and freeze up somewhere along the line.

Kevin, so its under some pressure. Enough to push it up to the top of the permeate tank say 6' of lift?

Yes it will do that/Lift 6'=Have heard or people blowing light/Thin walled tubing apart when thy forgot a valve closed=might be about 75PSI?? But if you really think about it the RO will put out 500 PSI so the PSI will have to go somewhere eventually.. Don't know that number and don't really want to find out either/Might burst and get water in electrical panel of RO and burn up machine and then SH down= $100,000 blunder.

Think taplins raises his 12-15'?? Mine might have been 3-4'

It will push up the 6'. Just make sure as Kevin said to not let that line freeze with water in it. Drain when done.

Isle Harbor,
I have one of Ray's 250's and my sap tank and permeate tanks are on the same level as the RO. In fact the intake for the feed pump is a little higher than the discharges on the cage tanks. They are both 275 cage tanks. You are going to start out with a higher level of liquid in you tanks than the level of your feed pump, therefore the feed pump will flood and prime itself. When the tank is going empty the feed pump, even though it is a little bit higher, will suck the tank dry. On the discharge side, both lines concentrate and permeate are under pressure and you can send it anywhere within reason. I put some tubing and valves right on the RO the divert both lines anywhere I want them to go. I'll try to get a picture.

Isle Harbor,
The line that I added is the concentrate line. With the two valves I can send it to the feed tank or back to the wash tank on the RO. You can also draw a little from that line to check you concentrate %. Not very pretty but gets the job done. On the permeate side I just hook a potable water (white rv) garden hose to the brass fitting and run it to a cage tank.
