Default How to Build a Reverse Osmosis 101

I am starting this link to help everyone on SBI take the mystery out of builing their very own Reverse Osmis.

First you need to find all the pieces parts to build it. That will be step one.

The heart of the machine is the Motor and pump. Call Fluid-O-Tech at 1-860-899-9577 ask for Daryl Arndt. Give him the specs of what you are looking for and he will set you up.

http://www.fluidotech.it/Pages/rotar...00_series.aspx

This is a 1 hp motor and pump from them, speced out to do 320 gph, at 215 psi.

Next we have the towers, now depending on size of unit you are building you will need 1,2,or 3. These came from Allforwater on ebay. I also bought flowmeters, pressure gauges and filter housing from them.

I bought these hoses from Hose Craft USA. Very inexpensive, very flexible, and can take high PSI.

We will be starting to put this all together this coming week. I will be taking pictures every step of the way.

Please refrain from making comments on this thread, I would like to finish putting it all together without a lot of comments in between. That way someone else can come here and it will all be in one series.

A simple click of the "Thank you" will suffice for now.

Today I found time to start the cabinet. I am building the cabinet a lot different than others have. Good or bad this is what I am doing.

I decided to build a cabinet that is horizontal. The exterior dimensions are, L61" x W28" x H21". This will change slightly when finish boards are used on the edges. The inside dimensions are, H18.5 x L56 x W19.75. On the front there is a large lip, as the pics will show that will protect the valves and flowmeters. These will all be exposed as there are no fluids in them when the machine is not running.

Is this the same unit thats on CL? Funny if so, I just looked at this thread then searched RO's on CL and saw this one! Looks like a slick little rig.

Sorry I got lazy about finishing this post. Sugaring and all you know.

Yes it is the same machine. This thing ran extremely well. It was eating sap and spitting out water. Easily took 1.7 and made it 5 at 220psi, It was dumping 175 gallons of water per hour at that.

Going to build a 600 for next year

I'm interested in getting an RO, my Father is not. He thinks its too big an investment to save on wood. Our rig is oversized for our operation at 4x12 so boiling time isn't really that bad right now, but I want to add 500-1000 more for next year. This one could work for us as a start. Does it have a wash cycle, and could it be expanded?

This one has 3 posts.... and no it is not expandable. the pump is maxed out. You could add a second pump I suppose. But for this application it would not be feasible.

This one is for sale.....
