Default You-Whooo... spring weather?

Sap ran just enough to fill all the buckets then freeze solid last week with likely another week to go before above freezing again. What happened to that nice sunny warm weather we had all of two days?

I think this is one of those years when I was tricked into tapping a little to early for buckets. If all goes well it should be my last year going this gathering crap. LOL

No sense worrying about what you can't control Bryan! We missed the first week, got the tail end of last week's run for one boil, got Tuesday/Wednesday this week and now it'll freeze up until the end of next week. The taps will still be good when it thaws out. I doubt this will be a year when we make until the end of April so make it while you can. The way I look at it we've got a 40% head start over last year's record season!

Hoping to get the solid ice out of the buckets, bulk tank, and collection tank today or tomorrow. Sap-sicles anyone? I have lots to share! LOL

I am getting depressed and feel like we are headed to a two week season

I am about 100 kilos north of you Brian
I picked up about 70 gallons of sap on Saturday but -15 on Saturday night meant I had 2 barrels of ice today
I am usually cleaning up by next weekend, I have not even had the chance to try my new evaporator yet

Oh yes! That would make it even worse having the new rig waiting to go. Good news is it looks like we will be neck deep in sap this coming week.

The reports from our woods is the sap is running really well today Bryan! It's been a slow March - hopefully we have several god weeks right through until Easter Weekend to make up for the lack of activity this month.

Those sapsicles should be gone soon.
