Default Tapping 2017

Spent most of the day yesterday tapping, a nice and sunny 8c, with above temps for the long range forecast.

Did anyone else go for it?

Tapped last Saturday. Had a good run on the weekend, made about 25 gal. Running slow now. The forecast looks good for next week.

I don't recall tapping in conditions like this before. Had a significant thunder storm then a hard freeze. Nice day came along so I started tapping thinking I wouldn't need snow shoes this year. After falling three times I put the snow shows on just for the crampons. Had to go back to the house for a pry bar to use as an anchor for the sleigh given if I let go it would slide away in any direction down hill. Hard pack of glare ice I don't break through by walking on it. Tapping all done but now a two week deep freeze is coming. -17 Friday night. Back to movies, popcorn, and the wood stove. LOL
