Default When do you expect to tap in Ontario 2016?

Saw someone mention the end of Feb. on Kijiji. Looks about right to me (at lest in Estern Ontario)

We'll be ready to start tapping by Family Day long weekend. Tough to tell this far out when the sap will actually start running.

Mid-Feb was what I would have guessed in Sept (when they were predicting a mild Winter). Long-range forecast for Feb 2016 currently doesnt show temps going on the plus side. But, given the craziness of weather forecasting these days, especially long-range, I hope mid-Feb it will be time to go!

I plan to be ready to tap at the end of this week, and then watch the forecast.

Hey Nick, nothing like getting everything squared away so that you can hit the ground running when the sap starts to flow. Best of luck this season.

Finished tapping this morning. Looks like we should be getting lots of sap in the next couple of weeks here in the deep south

I used to live in Burlinton so I well remember the deep south, But no such luck here in the Arctic zone known as Ottawa! I figure mid-March might be closer for me!

The two week forecast still looks negative so that brings us up to the end of the first week in March. Starting to wonder if this will be a short and fast season for the eastern area?

Agreed Max. Sometime in March. I can't tap for a whole season as my sugarbush is a couple of hours from the city and I have to take time off work just to do it. So, short season is not an issue but sap flow might. So I have to pick my time right.

Crazy day here. Started running around 5pm yesterday and is freezing up now. Well over 2.5 gallons per tap in that time. Should be another good day tomorrow
