Default Eastern Ontario Maple Workshop

Just a heads up that there will be a full day maple workshop November 22nd at Sand Road Maple Farm just off Highway 138 between Cornwall and 417. Proctor, Cornell, Ministry of Agriculture, Ontario Maple Producers Association, equipment dealers, and even Ontario Provincial Police are all doing presentations. I will post the full flyer once I have it. Day will likely run 8:30 to 3:30 or 4 and includes a full pancake house style lunch.

HUGE response to this event. Please let me know if you are planning on coming if you are outside our region so we have enough food.

Default Great meeting

A big thank you to the organizers of the eastern Ontario maple meeting today just north of Monkland. I really enjoyed the presentations. Jake I almost spilled the syrup Moser and his wonderful wife Cassandra put on a great presentation about making value-added maple products. Dr. Abby van den Berg made an interesting case for RO from 2-8 percent.
Nice meeting everyone and good meal
Robert.

Default What I learned out of this.

So here are few things I would like to pass on that I learned this weekend speaking at the Eastern Ontario Maple Producers Meeting.
1. When arriving into Canada and you say you are teaching a maple class expect to be asked to go inside.
2. When asked if you are getting reimbursed, better either have the work visa paperwork, or you don't even mention you are the teacher in the forementioned.
3. Believe it or not Not all Canadians are happy go lucky (customs)
4. Don't try to joke with the customs agent because she don't give a sh#$
5. After finally making it through customs and stopping at a rest area to use the bathroom you see this unbelievable sight that will make you pee yourself.
Here it is....... After having an experience with a grumpy customs agent you see a lady smiling at the rest area while picking up gargage. She says good morning to you and then states " I love that dancing queen song by abba thats playing right now eh?"
yup I'm immature and busted out laughing at this point.
6. The folks from Eastern Ontario are really great folks and am honored I was able to attend.
7. My wife which had never been to a casino took $1 and made it into $150 for me
8. And finally when you are motivated to get home after a long day you can make a 2 1/2hr trip into a 1 hr 45min trip using back roads.

Thanks All for the memories today!

Really appreciate you sharing your experience with our group Jake. Most of our members do not get to the big US shows and value added is something we've wanted to do for several years now. As far as the border goes the US side tries to find out if you are a threat while the Canadian side wants to make sure they aren't missing out on a taxation opportunity. Don't ever try a border crossing in an RV.

A few photos attached of Jake Moser in action on Saturday... once again, thank you very much. Next up will be a fire arms course in early February.
