Default Eastern Ontario?

Interesting debate I ran into... what do you consider to be Eastern Ontario? My view is basically a line from Pembroke to Kingston. Anything West of that is either Central, Algonquin, or Northern Ontario.

I would say Lanark, Frontenac, Renfrew, Leeds & Grenville, City of Ottawa and Prescott Russell for certain. You could argue Hastings and Prince Edward counties too.

It does seem sort of funny. Its pretty simple in the states. You draw two lines one vertically through the center of the state and one horizontally through the center of the state. Anything east of the vertical line is east, anything west of the verticle line is umm well west. North of the horizontal line well thats north, and south of the horizontal line... yep ya guessed it its south. Now here is where it gets confusing though In NY if your anywhere near NYC your downstate and everywhere else your consider upstate NY. I still havent figured out where exactly central NY is though cause seems no matter where you live its Central NY, thats no joke either. Us humans sure can make a mess of just about anything without trying to hard.

What most people from outside of Ontario don't realize is how BIG it is. Some stats from the www:

The longest east-west distance in Ontario is 1,568 kilometres (974 miles). The longest north-south distance is 1,691 kilometres (1,050 miles).

If you leave the south (somewhere near Lake Erie or Lake Ontario) it takes 2 days to drive out of the province if you're headed to Manitoba!
