Funny, except that it isn't so humorous that some people don't realize these things, build their house, then complain when the wind blows their direction or a farmer cuts hay or corn at 6am on Sunday morning.

Kind of like the development down the hill from me. Beautiful expensive houses built all along a hillside slope with driveways that go straight up. They sell them in the summer, then the buyers figure out in the winter they can't get up their driveways (or can't stop their cars going out of their driveways).

New development going up in the town I'm currently in. Neighbors in the old development across the road now complaining about the houses planned to go up in "their" open space. Kind of like how they complained they never knew about the highway planned to go through their backyard (which had been planned since before a single house was built).

My typical response to these folks is to tell them if they want to control what happens on the land they should buy it and pay taxes on it.

You would think if one we're to buy house or property they would do all the research. It's not a small investment. But some just like to complain.

up here we are experiencing similar issues as that sign. we have a numb nut that bought a house next to shooting ranges and then complaining and petitioning to shut it down...

people can be amazing in many aspects!

My cousin who had a mini farm for years was approached by the new owner / builder of a home downwind from his little farm who insisted that my cousin stop owning his two steers and the chickens / ducks because of the smell and noise. The next year he raised 6 pigs............Jay

It can go both ways. A client of mine is one of the largest land developers in the Toronto area. They had a lot of opposition at a public meeting for a planned subdivision that was going next door to an existing residential neighbourhood. The developer told them if they didn't want houses being built behind them he'd go back to farming the land (which it was still zoned for) and bring in 500 pigs!

I like that one. Then if they complain double the number of pigs, and repeat that until the complaints stop.
I live in a real nice residential neighborhood and we have ducks in the back yard. Fortunately both neighbors like them.
