Default witching water

so witching for water today, and I was able to locate the water veins, but my brother was unable to. So this got me thinking, what exactly is going on here?? I've never really played with witching rods, but apparently I have the ability to make them work.
I was told it's called "witching" for a reason, but i'm looking for some input from others of what exactly is going on to make one person able to do it, and the another not be do it.

I laughed at our local water workers when they were doing it one day to locate some unmapped pipes.... Then the guy I know said cmon over and I'll show you. Well after a few minutes of showing me the proper holding technique I was able to help finish marking the water lines, was kinda crazy to see it work.

My grandfather showed me how to do it with a fruit tree branch cut just right so its the shape of a Y. He would tell me when you start to feel the downward pull count your steps till its at its strongest and thats how deep the water vein is. The 3 times I did it with him he was within a couple feet of being right.

My Grandfather whiched our house water right on the mark. He tried to teach me but I couldnt do it, where as my sister can. Interesting to see that branch bend itself towards the ground even though he was holding it tight. He used a apple or cherry branch I think.

don't know if it works or not, but we got a great well at 20GPM. I couldn't do it with a fruit tree fork, but my son could. I could use bent coat hangers inside a straw you hold in your hand. We both found the same 2 spots on the property. The well driller said he could find water pretty much anywhere on our property, so ??? The only science I've ever seen on it said that people who could do it had different skin resistance readings...

Bah! I think it's just the black hat and wart on his nose that makes Moser think he's a water witch. Geo-Sonar is where the water is at or at least an old guy that has been drilling wells for years in the local area will know. Twitchy sticks are not my thing.

This typed by a man that doesn't believe in having a smoky taste and fat on his bacon.

Btw this the first time I've ever had a chance to poke Bryan.

I was shown by a local sewer dept. employee how to locate running water with brazing rods. I'm a sceptic and had to see for myself and trust me, it works. Simply bend the ends so you have 2 L shaped rods, hold them loosely, straight out in front of you by the short ends, and walk. When you cross over the pipe, they will turn toward the center and cross each other.

It didn't work for me if I was touching the metal, I had to put them inside a straw and hold the straws, then it worked. The fruit tree branch worked great for my son, my other son couldn't do it and was quite jealous. The son who could do it is an adult now, he came home a few years ago and tried it again, can't do it any more....Weird science in my book.
