Default new business Idea

My maple production is down this season, so ill'need to find other ways to make money to expand my maple operation. I build this outhouse instead of renting a johnny on the spot for maple weekend guests. I plan on putting a for sale sign on it and sell it as slightly used. What do you think I should ask for it. I will be trying to sell it to the city/yuppie type not the sugarmaker type.

can't believe your health inspector will let you get away with using that for the weekend. I was required for us to have a poly john with labeled capacity, washable surfaces, and vent for customer usage. we are also required to have warm hand washing water, and drain or bucket for grey water to collect in, and sanitary hand wipes for people to have access to.

no need to get pissy, just letting you know what our inspector required.
learned the hard way with the water and catch bucket. we always had a table set up with water and hand sanitizer, but the water wasn't hot, and would drain on the ground. Well 2 years we were hand a citation from the inspector for this and turned out to cost us about $250. So it was a lessonr learned.
Maple tradition is great, and that is what we have been selling to the public. I see nothing wrong with your potty, but the problem is that sooo much money, and sooo much effort has been put into publicizing maple that now higher powers has noticed and they want their tax dollars too.
We've been put in the spot light, and for many years were able to skate by under the radar with nobody really noticing, or caring. Now because we wanted maple noticed, and because we wanted the public to buy and see the tradition the inspectors have also taken notice. What you could get away with in the past, insisted necessarily what you should try to be getting away with in the future.
Like I said Sudzy I like the pottie; I just hope you don't have an inspector like ours, and the public see it as cute as we maple producers do.

Jim I say leave it right where it is and use it until you upgrade. Now If you would pay shipping I give you $500.00 for it Heck get together with Derrick and combine shipping with my pans that he will be sending me real soon.

I might change the peep hole it seems a little large.

When I applied for a permit for my new construction septic system the county guy came out and saw that I had a double hole outhouse that was made by the WPA he granted the license without hesitation because in reality I was really upgrading my old system.

Would make a great tank topper for a releaser. Imagine the looks when you pump it out roadside into your sap hauler...

Jim,
Nice work on the outhouse. IU would think you would need to be in $500 range????

Jake's comments are right on. We haven't been noticed for years. Now we (maple producers) are in all the papers. We need to do the best we can to create a very positive image for our customers!
Inspectors will come! We want them to be pleased with what they find.
Regards,
Chris

Great looking outhouse! I'd be proud to have that sitting it in the outback and so would the friends using it.
The only improvement that I can think of is a recirculating coil that would run from a water jacket off the evaporator to warm the seat.
