Default Need Help!

I been approached by a friends daughter who is going off to Art school this fall. She is looking for ways to help finance her schooling. She has won some pretty prestigious art awards and has quite a bit of talent. She has asked me if there is interest in the maple world for painted sap buckets and what they would be worth to people. She says if a person provides a photo of there sugarhouse or what they want painted she can paint it and ship. Help me out answering this young ladies questions please. Would you buy a personalized sap bucket of your own sugrahouse and what would it be worth. She is going to paint one for me so I can post up her painting.

I would pay $100 for a bucket. No clue what it's worth but it would be worth that to me. Guess it depends on the level of detail and time spent per bucket?

Neat idea , hanging a personilized bucket in the sugarhouse would be great. Count me in. I don't know about cost , if she has access to used buckets that would save shipping a bucket to her .

Thanks RHale. She is going to do one for me and find out how long it would take but she is guessing about 5 hours, with cost of the buckets, paint supplies and her time I thought $100 myself was a fair price to pay for one, especially when its a picture you get to pick yourself.

Thanks Wishlist for the feedback too. I have access to 1000 galvanized sap buckets that have been retired due to small leaks or some rusting on the insides. So there would be no need to supply them.

I checked e-bay and all I found was painted lids for $45.00. A bucket is a much larger project so would be worth more. I will be completely straight forward with my opinion. I have a pretty good collection of prints, paintings, photos, etc. and subject matter and quality drive the price. People want quality and will only pay so much for "a project piece", and that is ok among friends and supporters, but real money only comes with quality and reputation. So I think the sooner she can produce a sample for viewing the better. A typical numbered wildlife print from a known or obviously good artist will bring $75.00 unframed day in day out. So a single subject commissioned work should be worth 75.00 - $100.00 or more. My brother-in-law sells landscape and wildlife scenes painted on saw blades, painted by an Amish artist, and they start at $75.00 for a small one and go up to $400.00 for a large one. He has found it's a niche market, but Maple producers fit that category. I would bet Maple scenes on vintage buckets would sell in any craft mall. I also think the lids are a good option for those tight wads that don't want to spend much. I have a painted bucket myself and it sets in our main room in full view of all quest.
