Default Kids Dont Try This At Home

I have a couple old silos on my farm I would like to take down, I don't think I will do it this way though. There is some strong language towards the end of this video. You may want to mute it if that offends you. Enjoy!

I dropped our 70 foot silo back in the 70s. Same principal as falling a tree. It came down with a ground shaking roar, right were we wanted it. Scared the crap out of me when it went.

Xak you got any Amish by you? They will pay you to take it down if you let them have the stiles. I have watched them take a couple down and install. They set up a gantry on the top with a pulley, rope and a set of tongs and take them down one by one. They build a movable platform inside and just keep lowering it as they go. Really neat to watch. Also really dangerous to me the man on the ground raising and lowering the things. I know of one Amish that got smashed and seriously hurt.

They were taking one down up here and dropping the staves into a pile of sawdust. Guy got hit and killed and it was his own 20 year old son that had dropped the stave that hit him.

Our silo was full of corn with me at the top when some deteriated bottom staves let go and it tipped out. They told us it was safe to empty, but not to take down piece by piece.
