Default Volt?

I'm looking into another vehicle for my daily commute to work and running errands. Driving a 3/4 ton Sierra with a 6.0 liter and a 4:10 rear end gets me 13 mpg at best. I'm just plain fed up putting $125 week of gas into this thing.

Test drove a Volt on Saturday, what a nice car! You put the peddle down and its immediate response , I was impressed. They have really dropped the prices on these and with my GM discount I can save a bunch. Also there's a $7500 fed tax rebate and $1000 cash bonus going. I also got the $100O private offer on the Chevy website this morning. Its a random pop up voucher .

I have seen reports on going 50 miles easy on just battery and with Consumers charging .12 / kw it should cost me $1.20 to fully charge. I could commute to work and back and never buy gas!

Already verified there's enough room in the back for my trip to Leme and hauling syrup pans home.

Thoughts anyone?

What kind of prices do they have on the Volt? I know when they came out, GM set the suggested price way to high.

MSRP starts at $34,900 I believe. There's not a lot of options available like many other cars. With leather , nav , and a few other goodies its around msrp $40,000.

Just with the rebates its $9500 off . Live in Colorado and its another $4000 from the state!

I would look into a vw tdi, I have driven a friends 2011 tdi and it gets 40+ mpg has a lot of power cause of the diesel, will go for 300,000+ and for around $30 thousand. Plus with the diesel you could run veggie oil and spend next to nothing on fuel

Remember though burning vegetable oil comes with it's own set of challenges especially with a winter like this past one.
