Default I tapped in Missouri

I tapped on January 29 and had a run on Sunday of about 300 gals. Temps went down to 13 and stayed there so now a lot of frozen sap. Snow, ice and sleet today. I'll try tomorrow to thaw tanks enough to at least get some of it concentrated enough to finish in house.

Sugar B what do you mean your going to finish concentrate in the house. You are a long way from syrup to FINISH in the house. Fire up the evap and toss in the ice cubes and start producing.

Haynes, It's getting the ice out of the cage tanks. My pan,,, I figured holds about 35 gals and that's about what sweet I'll have when i'm out of sap. I've got a 2x8 with 6 foot drop that i got new last year and don't want to ruin it. Drop flues hold more gals than most think. And my sap at best only runs about 1 1/2 % so not much syrup. And then temps are to drop and stay below freezing, even for highs for a week or more before I might get any more sap. Don't want freeze bust flues.

Haynes, I was born at night,,, (1:45am) but not last night,, Mid 20s with about 15 wind chill for today. I don't now if I could keep lines from freezing from head tank. And then lows back near zero. Some day it will warm up,,,,,,, We all hope.

Don't ask me,,,,, I live way down in swamp-east,,,,,,,, southeast Missouri. Really about 5 miles north up out of the old swamps and at the southern edge of the "sugar" maple range.
