Default Going for it this weekend

After about a foot and a half of snow over the last two weeks and a forecast calling for 40s in the day and 20s at night starting on Monday - I went out with the 4 wheeler last night and plowed my sapping trails - what an adventure that was! I am thinking I will tap my 50 on tubing tonight and the other 200 over the weekend ........ I think it is finally here! I have tapped the last three years around the 10th of March so this is just a little early, but my season seems shorter up here so I do not want to miss any of the action so when I see a week of ideal temps - IT'S GO TIME!

My woods got 8" yesterday and is forecast for another foot tonight so I'm planning on tapping end of next week. Hope I don't need the snow shoes.

Just finished tapping this morning. Got 75 taps in yesterday, and the last 30 this morning. A few are dripping a bit, but not anything worth collecting yet. Expected to hit mid 50's today, so I have high hopes of getting a good start, very soon. Last year I tapped on March 11, and most of the taps were running well with a few days. Good Luck, everyone!

Me too Haynes, I just tapped 12 lousy buckets on snowshoes and after a really ugly (embarrassing) fall, not that anyone saw it, but I was LOL at myself, I will wait until Saturday to tap.

Great day everything perfect. But no sap. Go figure.
Well it gives time to tinker with the vacuum. I have 19cfm up and into releaser but hardy anything on sap intake. Learning curve. I need a old dairyman. Or Haynes or 3rdgen.

We put out 300 taps on Saturday. Dad went out this afternoon to check and most were still dry. Figured with the warm weather we would get something. Guess the trees still need time to wake up.

I tapped Sunday and as this morning all dry in the NW Metro. I guess we just wait and tinker with the evaporator.
