Default new candy?

looks like maple candy right.....well guess again. the first picture is 100% walnut candy made form some Michigan walnut syrup that Wishlist sent me to make candy with.....actually he sent me 2 pints of walnut ( the first went out for tastings and people couldn't believe the flavor of walnut....the second was for candy.) the second pic is a 50/50 maple walnut blend. Both are very different from maple....making temps did vary a little bit, both are very tasty, but going to have to get some more to cut back walnut even more because when boiled down to candy it has a very robust flavor to say the least. Thanks Wishlist for the walnut syrup and I hope you Michiganers enjoy the candy when it arrives.

Looks awesome Jake! Us Michiganders appreciate your hard work and excellent candy making skills.

I still can't believe you can take walnut syrup and on the first try make candy? I know its still syrup but with the invert sugar stuff I was hoping it might work. Me and my luck it would look like some sort of taffy that's hard as rock and taste like charcoal. Wonder if there will be a confection making class at Leme this year? Oh Daryl?

Edit.......just thinking out loud, wonder how much BETTER the blended syrup would taste with some real Michigan maple syrup?

Wishlist sent me some of his walnut syrup, maple walnut syrup, and some of his Moser made candy. Thanks Wishlist, it was amazing, I still like the maple better but man is it good. And the Moser candy.......how in the hell do you get it so smooth and creamy? Thanks to both of you. Much appreciated.

Thanks Roger. Do you like it more straight walnut or the blended 80/20? You don't have any walnuts that far north?
I've got my eye on another 50 or so walnut taps. Won't be long and I'll need 3rdgen to build me a walnut raised flu pan . ;)
