News release – For immediate release: 9/18/2013

On Saturday, October 5th, 2013, from 10:00am – 12:00pm there will be a Maple Tubing Workshop to be conducted at Lyndaker’s Maple Orchard located at 8735 Soft Maple Road, Croghan, New York. The Maple Tubing Workshop will be held entirely in the sugar bush so come prepared for the weather. Topics to be covered include: preparing the sugar bush prior to tubing installation, site considerations, placing mainlines and setting the slope, installing the mainline support wires, installing main lines, sizing mainlines, installing lateral lines, tubing tools, sizing the vacuum system, dry line systems, boosters, tap hole sanitation, system maintenance, and working with sap ladders. The workshop is conducted as an open discussion so you may hear a variety of suggestions for any given tubing situation. The primary presenter will be Stephen Childs, New York State Maple Specialist. Preregister by October 2nd to Cornell Cooperative Extension Lewis County at 376-5270 or Michele at mel14@cornell.edu.

Directions:
From Watertown/Carthage: Take Rte. 126 all the way to Croghan. At the 4corners (Nice N Easy) continue straight onto Convent St. Convent St. becomes Kirschnerville Rd. Follow Kirschnerville Rd. all the way. It then becomes Soft Maple Rd. Follow Soft Maple Rd. all the wat to the end and you are there. Approximately 9 miles from Croghan.
From Lowville: Take Rte. 812 into Croghan. At the 4 corners (Nice N Easy) turn right onto Convent St. Convent St. becomes Kirschnerville Rd. Follow Kirschnerville Rd. all the way. It then becomes Soft Maple Rd. Follow Soft Maple Rd. all the way to the end and you are there. Approximately 9 miles from Croghan.
