Default Low Temp Phone Dialer

Moser asked for this, so I'm starting it. Anyhow, my neighbor has a unit in his cabin that dials him if/when the room temperature drops below a set level. I forgot what exactly be called it, but I recall the price being very affordable. I thought they would be good for an RO room or a vacuum room if you're running a water cooled pump. Anybody out there using one. Tell us about them. Brand, price, vendor, specs., etc.

I want to see how it works, and if it monitors the temp...then does it run off from battery, or 120v.... my thinking is during a power outage it would stink it doesn't dial because it runs on the grid

Old phone systems ran on 24 volt but rang on higher voltage. I was told never strip the wires with my teeth because it can RING YOU UP. 10 years ago a buddy had one on his cabin that when he called and entered a code it would tell him the temps in the house and it had a water sensor.

That looks like it would do it, but the one my neighbor had was hard wired and only about $65. I'll check with my neighbor.

I'm a telco tech and see these units all the time in seasonal camps. Most have battery backup and will dial 2 or 3 numbers for a low temp/ power fail alarm. You can also dial into them and retrieve the current climate. They work well. If you google dial up climate monitors, you'll find several brands from $69 and up.

hey guys sorry for given my input in to tech stuff, you are right the old anlog phone use to have 48 volts DC on them until it rang the voltage go up to 90+ volts , but most of that stuff is gone.
There is a lot of stuff on the market cheap to the job . I try to post stuff that we us in the commercial jobs that can do more then one job at a good price .with saying that we install ton of these dialers Paradox - Headquarters can hold 4 inputs, ex: temp, motions, flood etc. This also dials up to 4 numbers with 4 massages, the prices runs around $ 150 .
This unit runs on 12DC ,and you program and turn it on an off with your phone, this is great for guys with camps with no power. one last thing for guys with no phone service you can use a cell back up they run around $ 150 +/-.
I use a winland product for my probes(draw off) and temp ,and panic button in case I get hurt, flow switch so I can tell when my sap is running .I also use a full alarm system and cameras system (4 cameras) that are tie back to dialer that uses cell backup . The reason I have this stuff my camp been broken in to 2x ,the camp is 40min from my house and about 5 miles to any other camp.

I'm going to chime in here since i'm an HVAC guy. If you have internet service you can install a Honeywell stat that you can moniter and adjust from anywhere in the world. Install the app on your phone, and anytime you want just bring it up and it will give you the temp in the space. Their is also a fancier one that gives you outdoor temp, plenum temp.
