Default insulating help

Started putting in ceramic blanket tonight and I can see I'm going to run into some problems.
After putting blanket on ramp I see that in my firebox I'm not going to have enough of a base to lay brick on. Is brick enough? Or do I need to add more base for both.

My imagination is having trouble incorporating grates as well.
Any suggestions would be appreciated and thank you in advance.

Cant see real well. But your grates may need to go in first to support the brick. This is not ideal if you have to take the grates in and out. Looks like you have air in the ramp covered with the blanket. Are your sides straight up on the arch? Are you planning insulation blanket and then brick over it on the sides and ramp?
Regards,
Chris

Chris
The sides are straight and there is a of just below the ramp. My idea was to put blanket up the sides and then brick over it. Problem is no base for brick to sit on. Was hoping to get ideas on base and incorporate grates as well.

Any and all suggestions are welcome
Andy

Andy,
Did you buy or build this arch?
Maybe you could fab a new structure to support the bricks and the grates? Like a window frame of 5/16 or 3/8 thick steel 4 inches wide to allow the bricks to rest on it and then have room inside of the bricks for the grates to set on the inside of the frame. Makes your fire box a little smaller but that's going to happen once you put all that in the fire box.
You might use splits for the brick ,but they are not as wide and may be more difficult to keep in place?
Regards,
Chris

Building the arch myself. I'm able to still tach anything inside the arch. Sides go straight up. My thought was to create more of a base for both brick and grates. What is the preferred spacing between the grates? Tighter for a jet of air or more air the better? Planned on using full brick at the bottom and taper to splits so it won't take away from the pans surface area.
