I can't imagine that it wouldn't. I'm going to need 4 valves like that but bigger. Maybe 1.5''

Well, since you asked. I'm going to have 4 lift stations. When vac. is shut down for the day, a little bleeder drops and any sap in the system hits the ground. I think that's to much to waste. So I came up with a plan to install a solonoid (24v) just before the lift station. I will need to run most likely 12 ga wire because of distance but I can control these from the vac. house.

Absolutely Haynes.

I used to repair chlorinators that would use an inductor to create vacuum . I've had my share of checking for vacuum leaks. To test , we would pull a vacuum against a closed valve and if you had ANY leaks the rotometer would rise some. Before we put a chlorinator in service it had to hold vacuum for 24 hours. Basicslly pulled vacuum and then closed valves and made sure vacuum didn't drop in 24 hours.

I sent an email to the MFG asking if it will work under full vacuum. I will let you know what I find out.

Here is what the MFG said.

Is this with a liquid or air?

You should have no problem using this valve under vacuum with liquids. It was designed for liquids, but you may be fine with air also.

Haynes, what are going to use this valve for? I was thinking about using 12V NC and 12V NO solenoids to buid a small vacuum releaser. It would be able to handle 300-400taps the way that I have it figured.

Chuck,
Your original question was if the solenoid would hold vacuum. To me, vacuum is the same as air pressure, only from the other side of the valve. So if it holds air pressure, and can open against it, I bet it holds, and can open against, vacuum.
Inlet will be atmosphere, and outlet will be vacuum.
Don't come to Wisconsin just yet-you almost need long-johns and ear flaps. -13 at 7:30PM, on the way to -25 tonight. Brisk breeze makes it bearable......

Sounds like a fun build Chuck. Keep us posted and we will point out any flaws! :)
