2x7. Went with a 3 foot syrup pan to get a bigger firebox for gasification. Chuck, that is exactly how i do it! I had to reweld the back together 2 times because it was 1/8 out of square....damn ocd. Then i cracked a few coors and just sat and looked at it for an hour.

right now the evaporation rate would be a little low, Glad to see others are building thier own rigs.... not as hard as they make it out to be. Good idea on the bigger fire box.

jmayerl. Don't sweat the small stuff..........1/8 My arch is made out of 3" X 4" 3/16 angle and it has moved from the heat more than that. I did use 11 Gauge sheet for the surfaces and welded them on the inside of the frame. It really makes it strong. Now because your a grinder like me that will be your weak spot I thought I was getting good penetration until 2 years later I saw nice miter joint cracks showing up..

J,
Great looking arch frame.
Do you have a RO? with 1000 saks your going to have a pile of sap.
Will be watching your arch build. (That would be a good project if I ever got a new set of pans.)
Those pans from Jim look real nice!
Regards,
Chris

I actually will have it on top of 4 HD dolley wheels bolted in the corners. Then i will have 6 adjusable legs under it. And yes it will have pan clamps. This is going to suck trying to heat the garage the next week with temps not getting above freezing. Every chunk of wood i put in the barrel is one less for the dragon to eat.
