Default Home Design RO

Well guys here it is ........
Two membrane RO, just waiting to fire it up next spring.
Last year with 1 membrane it only produced 17 gallons of concentrate per hour
Got our fingers crossed this year with 2 membranes it will produce 34 gallons of concentrate per hour.
The evaporator needs 30 gallons per hour, so we should be gaining 4 gallons per hour.
Can't wait to get it running.
.......... and oh yes .............. I don't want to boil raw sap again!!!!

Hi Jimsudz,
Using the 2.5 x 40
That is about all the room I have, so I had to go small.
Just posted a pic for you and Tap, it is much clearer.
Now if ya need detail, I can do that too!!
Two 4" with a procon should give you about 140 gph, that is total sap being processed.
That is at 200 psi.
Chat with you soon ...........

Putting together a design to build a 3 post 4 inch RO for my nephew. He will have 800 taps this year and up to 1200 next. Getting itchy to start. Just trying to figure out what will be needed to buy so that we have everything when we start.

jimsudz,
Yeah chat with Joe, he'll treat ya right. He will make sure you have the right pump and motor.
Now if you plan on expanding (as I thing Tap mentioned) let Joe know the max number of membranes you are thinking about.
Just remmber too, when you get the motor it may just be wired up for 220 volts.
If it is ya just need to swap a few wires and your good to go.
That was my issue last year, wasn't wired for 110 .............. dumb *** me!!!!
Now what I found is this ..... if the specs say the membrane will make say 75 gallons of permeate per hour, then that is going to be the max sap being processed per hour.
Just remember it's just a ballpark figure, at 200 psi.
Building this was surely a fun project.
Oh by the way, I am using the XLE membranes.
Joe likes them pretty well.

Dave

Hey tap, what if he did 1- 8"??
Maybe a couple of pro-cons in series, that might work.
Could produce maybe up to 400 psi??

I did think of that, but I would use my tubing washer if I were to do that. Or possibly a deep well pump. Nope I am going to stick with the 3, if he out grows it I dont think there will be an issue in selling it as there are a ton of small guys in the area. I am also going to build it so that you can bypass one membrane if you dont have a ton of sap.

When I start the build I will take pictures of every step.

What is the total length of your towers, including fittings?
