Default Looking for a pan

Hi there,
I'm sure you sap masters get a lot of these questions, but here is one more. My son and I are creating an arch out of a 275 gallon oil drum. I would like to get a pan for it that is 24 by 30 or 24 by 36. Any ideas where to get a decent used one or am I just wasting my time? Preferences on styles that would work best or any other advice would be greatly appreciated. We did it on a turkey fryer last year. (he's now 8 and says we need to make more. last years ran out too soon)

If you are looking for a used pan, check Bascom Maple Farms. They and a whole bunch of other maple dealers have used pans that were taken in trade for new evaporators or bigger evaporators. If you want new, try calling Mason Evaporators, he or others might be able yet to make one, but the time may not be there for this season.

thanks for the reply. We were originally going to turn a barrel into and evaporator then we got this idea. Kinda late I know. hoping to pull something together though.

To find the most dealers and private ads check out "The Maple News" and the classifieds on this site. Both may help. Also look at the adds on The Maple Trader site. One of those will show something. Lacking that, just get a catalog from any of the equipment companies and contact the ones close enough to drive to. Ask if they have any used pans.
If you find a soldered pan, test it for lead (available at many hardware stores). Older soldered pans had lead in the solder.

Where in PA are you located? A&A Metal in potter county is an amish shop that makes evaporators and most anything you could need in stainless. If you are lokking for just a flat pan, they should be able to whip one out on fairly short notice.

the easiest way to explain it is to say I am 40 minutes south of Binghamton New York. Close to route 6 in Pennsylvania.

A&A is in potter county. Probably 2 hour drive west for you.
