Default Crown Royal Maple Finished

This is a very rare post in the Canada forum. I was at our local LCBO (liquor store) and saw the new Crown Royal Maple Finished on display. In case you don't know, Crown Royal is a rye or Canadian whiskey. Just wondering if anyone that is a rye drinker has tried it? They only have full bottles but if I can find a little one somewhere I'll be curious.

Yes, Crown Royal is usually all I drink. I have had a bottle of the maple and i'm not sure i'd buy another. Takes a little gettin used to. Strong maple flavor and seemed sweet.

Sounds like a nice spirit to sip... but not as the regular spirit while sitting on the porch kind of thing. I love Baileys for example... but one or maybe two and that's it. I'll have to watch for one of those little tiny bottle thingies to try it.

I've tried and agree its too sweet if you like regular crown. But if you like sweet liqures I would highly reccomend it.

Bryan, I've never tried the Crown Royal product. A friend of mine gave me a botlle of maple whiskey/liqueur for xmas (30% proof) It's called Sortilège, and it`s made in Montréal. It's a great drink on ice. I would buy it myself, it has a distinct maple syrup taste.

Pardon the pun but "mixed" reviews. I know I like the 40 Creek Barrel select and really like the new Copper Pot Reserve. Really interested in trying the CR Maple finished but leery about buying a full size bottle just for a taste. Will keep looking and update this thread once I know...
