What a crazy 2 weeks this has been, Ive been so anxious to get the new evaporator and to add the additional taps it seems like sometimes I spin out of control trying to get everything done at once. I finally just took a breath and started to tackle one project at a time . I ran 800 ft of new mainline and was working on finishing that up so I could do the laterals and my mother got sick and went in the hospital. Well that was on the 26th of December and she never came home .she passed away on the 29th 2 days before her 70th birthday. It was rough but she would want me to keep plugging along, she asked me why I was at the hospital with her when she knew that I had lines to run, always a Mom, I miss her and will always love her. So I got back to business here ,and I made a few phone calls to D&G and checked on my pickup date of 1 /17 for the new 3x10 it had moved back 10 days to the 27th but that's ok. I ordered the blanket for the arch and it seemed like I had everything in control ........then I broke my leg. Yes here it is so close to season and Im at work ,I work in a max prison ,I was walking across the main rec yard almost to where I was supposed to be and BOOM down I go in a pile on the ice. I broke the fibula and a really bad sprain as well in my right leg. The Doc says it looks like early next week Ill have surgery to put it all back together, So here I sit ,bored to tears ,never realizing what a pain it is to have to move around every where on crutches it really sucks. Im hopeful that Ill get some boiling in, Ive had a huge outpouring of offers of help ,Im trying to be optimistic in all of this and its a little hard sometimes. I write this more for myself to help release some anger and frustration, I know it will all heal and theres always next year. So keep posting please so I can boil with each and everyone of you this season until I get back on my feet . Take care all and God Bless ,AL

The surgery went well, they put in a plate and screws to put the fibula back together ,then they drilled a hole through the tibia and ran this heavy gauge suture material through the hole and through the last hole on the plate and drew the mortise back together. The mortise is the cup which your ankle bones rides in ,like a socket . 6 weeks of 0 weight on it and then therapy for who knows how long. Heres to ordering a new evaporator and getting to look at it for a whole year before firing it up. Well at least Ill have plenty of time to set it all up .I pray for a great season for all the syrup makers out there .Be safe ,Al

Mothers are always looking out for there kids, no matter how old we get. Sorry for your loss. She was probably happy knowing you were doing something you love to do.
